Spending last week in Bangkok for #DidactaAsia2025 was an inspiring and eye-opening experience. Representing CCE Finland as part of the Finnish delegation, I had the chance to meet educators and experts who share a common belief: education shapes the future.

Throughout the event, conversations circled around how schools can prepare students for a rapidly changing world. From a Finnish perspective, this means nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to learn. These are not just skills for school, but competences for life.

In the panel discussions, I focused on two key perspectives. The first was AI in education, and how, when used responsibly and strategically, it can actually make teachers more human by saving time. Teachers can focus on relationships, meaningful learning, and fostering motivation and curiosity among students. The second was phenomenon-based learning, which provides a holistic framework for helping students connect knowledge, explore real-world issues, and develop future competences in an authentic way.

What struck me most was the enthusiasm among Thai educators. Their openness, curiosity, and genuine interest in the Finnish educational philosophy were truly heartwarming. It was encouraging to see how the idea of a student-centered approach, one that invites learners to ask questions, explore, use their creativity, and build skills for the future, is taking root in different parts of the world.

From this experience I take with me the spirit of collaboration, the shared drive to keep learning, growing, and improving education together. It was inspiring to see how genuine exchange and mutual learning can cross borders.

Warm thanks to all the educators I met, my fellow delegates, and the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok for creating such a welcoming and inspiring environment.
