Assessment Design in Alignment with India’s NEP 2020:

A Collaborative Teacher Training Course

Overview

This four-week online program (delivered across two months) is designed for K–12 teachers seeking to master assessment practices aligned with India’s NEP 2020. Each module includes a 1.5-hour interactive lecture followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. Participants will explore formative, summative, and innovative assessment approaches connected to the NCF and various state curricula, with a final consolidation session after a short reflective break.

The course is fully online, collaborative, and practice-oriented. Every session includes access to recorded materials, discussion spaces, and dedicated opportunities for peer interaction and support.

Course Schedule

  • Session Length: 1.5-hour lecture + 0.5-hour Q&A

  • Content: Introduction to NEP 2020 assessment principles, overview of formative vs. summative assessments, and introduction to project-based and phenomenon-based assessment methods.

  • Activities: Teachers will receive activities and questions to work on during the week.

Week 1

Week 2

  • Session Length: 1.5-hour lecture + 0.5-hour Q&A

  • Content: Deep dive into designing open-book tests, observation-based assessments for early years, and aligning assessments with NCF and state frameworks.

  • Activities: Participants will continue their assignments and prepare for next week’s discussion.

Week 3

  • Session Length: 1.5-hour lecture + 0.5-hour Q&A

  • Content: Exploring assessment methods for play-based and active learning approaches, and introducing collaborative team-teaching assessment models.

  • Activities: Teachers will finalize their mini-projects and prepare for the final session.

  • A three-week break for participants to implement what they've learned and gather their reflections.

Weeks 4-6

Week 8

  • Session Length: 2 hours

  • Content: Review of common issues, sharing experiences, and final Q&A. Consolidation of learning outcomes and feedback.

  • Each session will be recorded for those who cannot attend live.

  • Participants will have access to a shared online platform for submitting assignments and interacting between sessions.

  • The course will emphasize collaboration, so participants are encouraged to work in small groups.
