STEM for Primary and Secondary Teachers (STPS201)
The course gives a pedagogical overview and practical introduction to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) integrated approaches in everyday learning based on current educational trends and approaches. The primary source of inspiration is the Finnish National Core Curriculum's interdisciplinary framework for project-based learning, transversal themes and education for sustainable development. In addition to the Finnish context, to ensure the adaptability of the content, we will also study the lessons learned and the theoretical and pragmatic insights gained through Experience Workshop STEAM Network's interdisciplinary education projects and co-operations in Asia, America, Europe, and Australia.
Who Can Attend?
This course will be helpful for those who are at the beginning of their career as a Primary or Secondary teacher, who have no or little formal professional training, or those who experience a need to update and support their practices with more knowledge on recent trends in STEAM education.
